My heart. My soul. My world is my daughter.
Coaching and supporting owners with disabilities in self-training their dog to be a service dog. Empowering & amazing to be part of the process!
One of my closest friends and her service dog, Donner, at her graduation from nursing school. Training with Donner was a joy, and seeing the benefits he provides my friend is priceless.
"Compassion is the keen awareness of the interconnection of all things."
At the root of dog training, I coach members of two different species on how to better communicate and understand each other. In working with dogs, remember that everything you do is communication to your dog!
I have always felt a powerful bond with and compassion for animals. During childhood, my mother's Native American heritage and love of nature rubbed off at an early age. Along with my rambunctious brothers, I enjoyed growing up with fish, frogs, butterfly hatcheries, dogs, and a rat.
I earned my bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University in Education and History, and then I spent the next five years working in PR & community outreach with nonprofits focused on poverty alleviation, child advocacy, and microfinance. In 2008, I adopted a tiny abandoned 3-week-old puppy, Dozer, and I became an active volunteer and foster parent for a local rescue organization. I soon found that I had a talent in successfully working with dogs with abuse histories and behavioral challenges, and my interest in dog training & neuropsychology began to grow.
Since then, I have worked at the Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago (the city's oldest and largest animal shelter); at Petco as a customer adviser and head dog trainer; and in starting and building my own training business in Chicago, Pasadena, CA, and Houston, TX. In August 2021, I moved to Denver, and I enjoy working with new clients and building my knowledge and experience in the Denver area. In my free time, I enjoy exploring the beautiful mountain trails with my daughter and our sometimes silly, always exuberant Bluetick Coonhound mix pup, Spark.
Our new puppy went from being scared of us, Peeing himself when we were near and hiding in corners, to coming when I call, snuggling with me and playing all day long with his toys and our other dogs. He went from being the most sad soul I have ever met and transformed into a goofy and silly sweet boy. I accredit this to Jenny's information and guidance. He was a very extreme situation and it took a different approach and a level of understanding to get him to the place he is in now.
Jenny provided a loving, secure, and engaging home environment for my newly adopted rescue dog while I was out of town. Jenny sent me daily updates/photos/videos of my pup and I was relieved to see he was being cared for by such a trustworthy and loving professional. My dog adores Jenny and is now going to begin dog training classes with her - he misses her and loves to learn from her!

Jenny was absolutely the best thing that has happened for our corgi. Within 2-3 appointments, our rabid dog that literally bit everything and scared my parents to death had literally transformed into the doggy we had always wanted.
Jenny is awesome! She was able to teach us how to house break and train our new dog in just a couple sessions. I was at my witt's end trying to house break our dog. He was having up to 10 accidents a day. It was horrible. We followed her directions as closely as we could and now he hardly ever has accidents. She showed us how to teach him sit, down, and stay too. After some reinforcement he knows those commands. She was a lifesaver for us!
I found Jenny on yelp. She is very kind and knows her stuff. We adopted a 1 yr old rescue Maltese with bipolar issues, lol. Very sweet most of the time grumpy and stubborn some of the times. It was starting to be an issue until we found Jenny. She trained us (which is usually the problem) on how to handle different situations. We are still work in progress but we definitely found the right person to help us.
JENNY IS EVERYTHING!! She is so kind, professional and uses positive reinforcement to help your dog thrive. After adopting a dog during quarantine, he hadn't been socialized and we were so worried to have a family member stay with us. Well, using Jenny's techniques they are currently snuggling on the couch together! Call Jenny!! She also will text you back anytime for free! What an amazing service. Thank you!!

Jenny is a wonderful dog trainer. So sweet and compassionate. She has a special bond with dogs and they love her! I just finished the AKC Canine Good Citizen class and my one year old Havanese learned how to be a well-behaved puppy! All levels of Jenny's classes are very educational and very hands on and I recommend them highly. You will not find a more loving and knowledgeable dog trainer than Jenny Magill.
